About Gerard

East Sussex County Councillor for Hailsham New Town, Cllr Gerard Fox has lived in Wealden for fifty years since childhood, attending local schools before studying Economics and Politics at Bristol University.

He also has a recent post-graduate degree in Energy & Environmental Economics from UCL.

Gerard has worked in both large and small businesses, and understands all too well the challenges faced by many of our small local businesses which account for 90% of the jobs in East Sussex.

He is a small farmer and local businessman, as well as a Director & Trustee of the Oxford University based charity, The Regulatory Policy Institute.

Gerard has a keen interest in and writes regularly on issues associated with environmental economics, regulation, renewable energy innovation and investment.

His three decade background in international finance, with experience up to a senior management level, has helped him to navigate investment and energy transition challenges as Chair of the East Sussex Pension Fund Committee

Gerard is as equally happy grappling with East Sussex pension fund investment strategy, campaigning for better local infrastructure, schools and medical provision, or resolving resident highways, road safety or adult social care concerns, as he is sitting behind the steering wheel of a farm tractor.

Gerard has been Hailsham's Conservative County Councillor since May 2017. He is passionate about helping the Town to prosper. He gives his 100% to solving local problems. Most Hailsham people who know Gerard say that he gets things done.
